US officials promised Israel on Wednesday that the US would ease the severity of recent State Department warnings not to visit Israel, reported the Jerusalem Post newspaper.
Israel’s foreign ministry director-general, Alon Liel, and his staff met with State Department representatives in Jerusalem and discussed the issue.
Liel told the group that the travel advisory was very damaging to the Israeli tourism industry.
The Americans said they would weigh limiting the travel advisory to certain areas in Israel, said the paper.
