The United States said Tuesday it was very satisfied with the Saudi kingdom's cooperation in the US-led war on terrorism but refused to comment on the reported arrests there of seven people believed linked to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network.
"If they arrest anybody, it's for the Saudi authorities to talk about it," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said when asked about reports of the arrest of the seven people believed to have been planning bomb and missile attacks in the kingdom, notably against an air base used by US troops.
"We followed the practice right from the beginning of this to let other countries talk about what they might and might not be doing in terms of action against terrorism," he said, according to AFP.
"We've been very satisfied with Saudi cooperation in a wide variety of areas, whether its financial, law enforcement or other matters but beyond that, I think I'd have to leave to the Saudi authorities to talk about specifics." (Albawaba.com)
