The US will provide Jordan with 200,000 metric tons of American wheat worth approximately $26 million, under an agreement signed Monday in Amman.

The agreement was signed between US Charge d’affaires in Amman, Gregory Berry, and Minister of Planning Jawad Hadid, according to an embassy statement faxed to Albawbaa.com.

The US wheat accounts for one-third of the bread consumed in Jordan, said the statement.

The 200,ooo metric tons of wheat will be shipped to Jordan in batches expected to arrive later this year.”
