US non-farm payrolls expanded by 137,000 in October, and the unemployment rate was unchanged from September at 3.9 percent, the Labor Department reported Friday.
Wall Street analysts had foreseen an increase in payroll jobs of 198,000 and a jobless rate of four percent last month.
Average hourly earnings, closely watched as an indicator of wage-driven inflation, gained 0.4 percent over September and were up 3.8 percent year-on-year -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
