Four "terrorist" suspects and four civilians were killed by US forces and airstrikes during a morning raid in Baqouba, the U.S. military said on Wednesday. U.S. forces targeting a wanted man linked to leaders of al-Qaeda in Iraq came under heavy fire from a building and shot back, killing two suspects, the US military said in a statement.

Airstrikes were called in due to the heavy volume of fire from the building and U.S. aircraft fired multiple rounds at the building. When troops moved through the building, they found two other suspects and four women had been killed in the airstrike, according to the AP.

Elsewhere, Iraqi security forces have captured another leader of the 1920 Revolution Brigades, a group accused of many attacks on U.S. forces, the General Command of the Armed Forces said Wednesday. The man was arrested Tuesday night in the village of al-Jazira, about 60 miles north of Baghdad, said Brig. Qassim al-Mussawi. The operation follows the arrest of another leader of the group and seven aides early Saturday in the same area.
