The United States and Canada will turn their clocks back early Sunday, ending the summer or Daylight Saving Time.
At 2:00 am local time Sunday, clocks will be moved one hour back to Standard Time in most of the continental United States, except portions of Indiana and Arizona.
The difference between the United States and Greenwich mean time will therefore, be five hours for the eastern part of the country and eight hours for the West Coast.
Daylight Saving Time is not observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Canada, which has six time zones, switches at the same time early Sunday. The difference between Newfoundland time and GMT will be minus 2:30 hours, Ontario and Quebec minus five hours and British Columbia minus eight hours.
The twice-yearly switch usually does not occur without some confusion in the United States.
Among the most frequently asked questions: will bars and restaurants that usually close at 2:00 am in the United States stay open one hour longer this coming night?
No such luck, according to authorities. They explain that closing time for most watering holes is actually 1:59 am, so they will be officially shut when time rolls back -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
