U.S. and British warplanes fly over Iraq

U.S. and British warplanes carried out on May 17 and 18, eighteen sorties from Kuwaiti airspace backed by an AWACS, which came from Saudi airspace, the official Iraq News Agency INA reported Sunday. 

 

A spokesman for the Iraqi Air Defense Command said that the warplanes flew over the areas of Lassif, Bissiya, Jaleba, Nakheeb, Salman and Artawi. Subsequently, the warplanes returned to their bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the spokesman added.  

 

Since December 17, 1998 up to May 18, 2002, the “enemy warplanes”, according to the News Agency, carried out a total of 38,504 sorties from Saudi, Kuwaiti and Turkish airspace, of which 12,410 sorties were from Kuwait. (Albawaba.com)
