ALBAWABA - EU Commission spokesperson wrote on X, formerly Twitter, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen will travel to Egypt and Jordan on Saturday, November 18.
von der Leyen is expected to land in Egypt first to meet President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo and travel to the Sinai to welcome the arrival of EU humanitarian aid before traveling to Jordan to meet with King Abdullah II in Amman.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will also be in the Middle East from Thursday for humanitarian and political talks in Israel, Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan.
Von der Leyen visited Israel on October 13, days after Hamas surprise attacked a rave festival in a city near Gaza's borders with Israel, leading Israel to launch a brutal aggression on the besieged strip.
Hamas operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
According to the latest Ministry of Health statistics, the latest death toll has jumped to 11,500 people killed since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7th. These numbers include 4,710 children and 3,160 women.
