ALBAWABA - A number of lawyers representing the victims of the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza will be filing an official complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague.
A delegation of lawyers headed by Gilles Devers, accompanied by four others, submitted the complaint to the ICC’s prosecutor. In a press conference, Devers told journalists that Israeli acts in Gaza constitute factors of the crime of genocide.
"The ICC is currently investigating the war crimes in a related investigation. The crime of genocide should also be included in this," Devers stated. "forcing over one million people to be displaced and cutting access to water, energy, food, and medicine indicates that Israel wants total annihilation of the population in Gaza".
Also, Pierre Galand, a former Belgian senator, spoke at the conference, urging Belgium’s Foreign Ministry to recognize the State of Palestine as soon as possible.
Abdelmajid Mrari, head of the Middle East and North Africa division at the Brussels-based Alliance for Freedom and Dignity, noted that the ICC has judicial authority over the crimes committed in Gaza, Anadolu Agency reported.
Human Rights Watch said in a statement that an International Commission of Inquiry and the International Criminal Court must launch an official investigation regarding the situation In Gaza.
