ALBAWABA - In a decisive move, the United Russia party has officially thrown its weight behind President Vladimir Putin as their chosen candidate for the upcoming presidential election. This endorsement was made during the party's 21st Congress held in Moscow.

During the congress, a unanimous vote solidified support for Putin's candidacy in the presidential election, underscoring the party's confidence in his leadership. In his address to the congress, Putin emphasized the significant responsibilities faced by the nation, urging unity in the wake of historical challenges.

Putin's remarks touched on the assertive policies of Western nations, accusing them of attempting to destabilize Russia not only economically and socially but also politically. He emphasized the resilience of Russia's society, government, and administrative system against attempts at interference.

The presidential election is scheduled to take place from March 15 to 17, 2024. President Putin, who previously declared his intention to run and submitted the required documentation to the Central Election Commission, will be an independent candidate in the race. The backing of the United Russia party, a dominant force in the State Duma, signifies a unified front supporting Putin's candidacy.

This upcoming election marks another chapter in Putin's political journey, having secured the presidency in the previous election held on March 18, 2018, where he garnered 76.69% of the votes. The backing of the United Russia party reaffirms their commitment to Putin's leadership and vision for the future of Russia.
