The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson told the Egyptian press Tuesday that she will be informing the United Nations General Assembly of the “violence she has witnessed in the Palestinian territories.”
"My report will cover what I have seen myself," she said after separate meetings with the secretary general of the Arab League Esmat Abdel Meguid and with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa.
Robinson's convoy came under fire Sunday when she was visiting the divided town of Hebron in the West Bank. Police and Palestinian witnesses have accused Jewish settlers of the shooting.
"Mrs. Robinson told me in detail about all the crimes that Israel has committed and which the (UN) Human Rights commission has seen for itself," said Abdel Meguid, adding that the commission had expressed "her indignation, her anger and her sorrow," over their practices – CAIRO (AFP)
