The UN special envoy to Libya said rival factions in the country have reached a general "consensus" on a political agreement, the Associated Press reported Sunday.

Bernardino Leon told reporters in Morocco the groups were able to "overcome their differences" to make significant strikes toward achieving a unity government

Leon said the Tripoli-based government has 48 hours to submit names of people who could potentially lead the newly united body, according to the AP. The Tobruk government has already submitted its names, he said.

Libya has fallen into conflict with two governments competing for power since Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown in 2011.
