UAE Ambassador Hamad Saeed al-Shamsi and Saudi Minister Plenipotentiary Charge d’Affaires Walid al-Bukhari visited Prime Minister Saad Hariri Monday evening, expressing their wish to be the first to congratulate the premier on his electoral achievement.

The two officials congratulated Hariri, for the 21seats won by his Future Movement, according to official but not final results announced by Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk.

"We wanted to be the first congratulating Prime Minister [Saad] Hariri on his win in the parliamentary elections," Bukhari said after the meeting, according to a statement from the prime minister’s office.

Hariri also briefed the pair on the recent vote –Lebanon’s first in nine years – and they discussed bilateral relations with the Gulf states.

"We also made sure to re-assure the depth of the relations that tie us to Lebanon," Bukhari said.
