UAE police rounded up 876 illegal immigrants in the first two weeks of this month, an interior ministry statement said Sunday.
The illegal immigrants were apprehended as they tried to cross the border, it said, cited by the Gulf News.
The directorate has intensified efforts against illegal immigration.
The statement said the ministry would continue its campaign against illegal immigrants with more raids and border checks.
The ministry also warned that people sheltering illegal immigrants faced severe punishment.
