Dubai police have arrested a Russian couple suspected of trying to circulate counterfeit US dollar notes, reported the Gulf Daily newspaper.
It quoted a police official as saying a man had been arrested after handing over $31,000 to undercover police agents and receiving 55,000 dirhams ($15,000) in exchange.
A woman, who had rented the hotel room where the man was staying, was also arrested and police said they found a two counterfeit $100 notes with her.
The newspaper said the counterfeit money had been sent to a police laboratory for investigation - Albawaba.com
