Communication giants Etisalat of UAE and Ericsson have collaborated to present the UAE with third generation (3G) Tour Transcontinental, said ITP.net.
The alliance is part of Etisalat’s commitment to grow awareness of new applications available in 3G mobile communications, said the magazine.
Saleh Al Abdooli, manager engineering mobile system was quoted by the technology magazine as saying that “the UAE is the ideal place for 3G introduction.”
He noted that “Etisalat has the most advanced infrastructure and all the supporting elements for 3G success.”
Accoding to ITP, Etisalat is currently performing trials runs on all the potential new services and applications that are to be available for mobile users.
Ultimately, greater speeds are expected and users will be paying by volume and not by time. The launch of 3G is scheduled for 2003, which will be Etisalat’s third phase in its major upgrading of wireless services – Albawaba.com
