The net profits of UAE banks for full-year 2000 are expected to be close to Dh4.5b ($1.6b approximately), the Gulf News reported Tuesday, quoting the Central Bank Governor Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi.
Bank profits increased from Dh3.3 billion in 1996 to Dh4.3 billion in 1998 before declining to Dh3.5 billion in 1999, the paper said, adding that the profits of this year are expected to be around Dh4.5 billion -- Albawaba.com
