Two Turkish soldiers were killed and four injured after a car bomb targeted their convoy in a predominantly Kurdish area in the southeast, AFP reported Sunday.
The soldiers were traveling on a road late Saturday in the Lice district of the Diyarbakir province when the explosion occurred.
The attack comes as tensions rise between the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Turkish government. Turkey began airstrikes targeting Kurdish forces in Iraq on Saturday.
Following the air raids, the PKK said conditions were no longer in place to honor a ceasefire. The truce agreement has been in place between Turkey and the PKK since 2013.
