At least two police officers have been martyred and five others injured in a bomb-laden car attack in Turkey's southeastern province of Sirnak on Sunday, security sources said.
According to security sources, PKK militants attacked police officers with a bomb-laden car and long-barreled weapons at 5.30 a.m. local time (0230GMT) on the Sirnak-Uludere highway.
The wounded were taken to Sirnak State Hospital.
Sources added that six militants were also killed after the attack.
An air-assisted operation has been launched in the region to apprehend the militants.
Turkey has seen a surge in violence since the PKK organization resumed its armed campaign at the end of July. More than 100 Turkish security personnel have been martyred in attacks mainly in Turkey’s southeastern provinces.
Meanwhile, in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakir, one police officer was martyred and another one injured in another attack by the PKK organization on Sunday.
