Gunmen Thursday released two people kidnapped two days ago from the northeastern border town of Arsal, a security source said.
The source told The Daily Star that locals Mustafa Zaarour and Ali Ezzeddine, who were snatched Tuesday from the Arsal neighborhood of Al-Shafaq, were let go after a deal was reached to end their long-running money-related dispute.
The talks were reportedly mediated by the Ezzeddine clan.
Gunmen, however, still hold Younis Hujeiri, a 36-year-old Arsal businessman who owns a quarry in the town.
Younis was kidnapped late-Monday in the Wadi Hmeid area on the outskirts of Arsal.
The security source said Hujeiri had been personally involved in a dispute with a group of Syrian militants.
