A Palestinian schoolteacher on Sunday was killed and five others injured in an Israeli missile raid on one of the Jabalya houses in northern Gaza Strip.

PIC reported that Israeli aircraft fired a number of missiles at a house near Khulafa Rashideen mosque in the camp. Medical sources in the Awda hospital said that the body of the victim Maher Mahmoud Zakkout, 39, arrived in the form of charred remains.

Five other injured persons including a 60-year-old woman Leebiya Ali were rushed to the hospital. She was transferred to the Shifa hospital in Gaza in view of the seriousness of her condition.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old Palestinian Sunday succumbed to serious wounds sustained a few days ago in the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip.

Dr. Juma Sakka, public relations manager in the Shifa hospital in Gaza city, said that Mohammed Al-Mabhoh was hit with shrapnel in his head, chest and limbs.

He said that Mabhoh, who was in ICU over the past week, had undergone a number of surgeries in an attempt to save his life, but with no success.

The victim was hit with shrapnel of tank shells fired by occupation forces a week ago in the refugee camp.

In another development, Hamas gunners Sunday opened machinegun fire at an Israeli military engineering corps that was maintaining the electronic fence surrounding the "Atsmona" settlement near Rafah city in the south of the Gaza Strip.

A communiquי for the Ezedeen al Qassam Brigades, military wing of the Hamas, said that "the pre-dawn shooting was part of the Palestinian struggle against occupiers that would continue until final liberation of all usurped lands."

In an earlier statement, the military wing claimed the credit for activating three explosive devices Saturday night in an Israeli armored personnel carrier and a bulldozer in the Jabalya refugee camp.

In addition, the Quds Brigades (Islamic Jihad), Aqsa Martyrs Brigades (Fatah) and National Resistance Brigades (DFLP) declared joint responsibility for blasting a highly explosive device in an Israeli tank in Jabalya refugee camp Saturday night.

The joint statement said that the 95-kilogram-device directly hit the tank and vowed to continue along the road of resistance until ejection of all invasion forces. (albawaba.com)
