Two kidnapped Pakistani brothers aged six and four have been rescued from a camel racing farm in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they were to have been used as jockeys, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
Gulf News said "unscrupulous agents" had snatched the boys from their home in northwest Pakistan three months ago and smuggled them into the UAE via Iran on forged passports and false birth certificates.
Abu Dhabi police, alerted by relatives and the Pakistani embassy, rescued the brothers Shajar and Shajawar Rasool from the farm in the Al-Ain oasis region where camels are bred for racing, a popular sport in the oil-rich Gulf monarchies.
Under UAE regulations, camel jockeys must weigh at least 45 kilograms (99 pounds) to avoid young children being used, Gulf News said -- DUBAI (AFP)
