Two Egyptian policemen were injured in an explosion on Wednesday in Egypt's Sinai penninsula while searching for those behind the deadly bombings in local resort towns Sharm El Sheikh and Taba.

Egyptian security sources revealed that the explosion seems to have been the cause of land mines which detonated when the policemen's vehicle triggered it, according to Reuters.

''The explosion was strong and appears to have come from a land mine which blew up under the vehicle," one source said.

The search team, which consists of around 3,500 policemen in 20 armored vehicles, is looking for suspects in the Sinai mountains for those responsible for seven bombings in the region which took the lives of around 98 people.

A spokesman for Egypt's Interior Ministry said he could not comment on the supposed  explosion.
