At least 22 people have been killed in twin blasts by the Daesh group in the Syrian province of Homs.
The attacks were conducted in al-Zahraa district in the city of Homs early on Tuesday.
Syria’s official news agency SANA said the first attack in the residential area of al-Zahraa was a car bomb assault and was followed by an attack by an individual wearing an explosive belt.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human rights said on Tuesday that a loud explosion rocked al-Baghilia district in the northwest of the city of Dayr al-Zawr, adding that the blast was carried out by Daesh.
The report further said the blast was followed by fierce clashes between the Syrian army and militants.
Earlier, the observatory had said that 19 militants from the Ahrar al-Sham group and four civilians were killed in a bomb explosion in the Syrian city of Aleppo on Monday.
The attack reportedly hit a checkpoint at the entrance to a security complex belonging to the militant group. The report further said that several prisoners being held by the group at a facility in the complex were also believed to have been killed.
No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
The conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has reportedly claimed the lives of more than 260,000 people and left over one million injured. The UN says 12.2 million people, including more than 5.6 million children, remain in need of humanitarian assistance in Syria. The violence has also displaced 7.6 million people.
