Turkey's trade deficit widened by 107.6 percent on a 12-month comparison to 21.79 billion dollars (23.15 billion Euros) in the first 10 months of the year, the state statistics institute announced Monday.

Imports increased by 35.4 percent to 43.87 billion dollars (47.33 billion Euros) over the same period, while exports rose by 0.8 percent to 22.08 billion dollars (23.82 billion Euros), it said.

The falling value of the Euro against the dollar was a major factor in dollar terms for Turkey, with over 50 percent of its exports going to European Union countries -- ANKARA (AFP)
