Turkish Governor Restricts Alcohol Sales, then Backtracks

Izmir's Governor Alaaddin Yuksel caused a row Friday by putting forth a new directive banning the sale of alcoholic drinks at outdoor venues in Izmir, then backtracked after the decision brought forth a negative reaction. From Izmirians, reported Turkish Daily News. 

With the new directive, alcoholic drink service was to be banned in the parks and outside areas of bars, cafes and restaurants, said the paper adding that the decision disappointed Izmirians who wanted to sit and drink on Kordon Sunset, which is a symbol of the city, according to the daily – Albawaba.com
