Muhammad Shibli, a senior commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), was killed due to a suspected Turkish drone strike in northeast Syria on Friday.

Shibli played a crucial role as a coordinator between the SDF and the US-led Global Coalition in the fight against ISIS.

The fatal strike occurred within the confines of Shibli's residence in the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah), located in the far northeast of Syria. Reports indicate that a Turkish drone targeted a house in Azadi Square, a central area in Derik.

In addition to Shibli's death, the strike also resulted in injuries to a 39-year-old woman, Avin Khalil, and an 11-year-old child named Ahmad Shahin.

Shibli made significant contributions to the fight against ISIS. Since 2014, he had been at the forefront of coordinating operations against the extremist group, working in tandem with the joint efforts of the SDF and the Coalition.
