A man identified as a Turkish driver kidnapped in Iraq was beheaded, according to a video shown on an Islamist Web site Thursday. The man showed a document and spoke a few words in Turkish before he was killed.
A statement read out in the video said the kidnappers belonged to the Tawhid and Jihad group's "Qaqa Brigade."
In the video the man said "I drove a truck of supplies to the Americans. ...When I was coming back (to Turkey), the group captured me. I call on all Turkish drivers not to come to Iraq."
"Death at the hands of the Mujaheedin will be the fate of those people, as you will see," said one of the kidnappers. The captive was then pushed to the ground and decapitated.
Meanwhile, a female Iraqi television reported was shot dead in a drive-by attack in Baghdad on Thursday, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said. According to The AP, Ministry spokesman Col. Adnan Abdul Rahman said the woman was fatally shot by three assailants driving by in an Opel car around 8:00 am. She was identified as Zeina Mahmoud, who was working for Kurdish-run Al-Hurriya TV, said the station's director Nawrooz Mohammed.
In another shooting attack that took place about 1 kilometer away just minutes earlier, a judge was shot dead, Abdul Rahman said. Judge Abdel Amir Kadhem was killed at 7:55 a.m. in the Shiite neighborhood of Azamiyah in Baghdad. (albawaba.com)
