Turkey Holds 62 Immigrants Heading for Greece

Turkish border troops have intercepted 62 illegal immigrants in the northwestern province of Edirne who were planning to sneak into neighboring Greece, Anatolia news agency reported Friday. 

The group included Afghans, Algerians, Iranians and Palestinians, according to the agency. 

Turkey is a major transit route for Asian and African immigrants trying to reach western Europe in search of a better life -- ANKARA (AFP)
