Tunisian forces discover stockpile of machine guns, rocket launchers in Ben Guerdane

An arms depot was found on Tuesday in Ben Guerdane, governorate of Medenine, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The deposit contained 29 pieces of weapons Kalashnikov type 3 RPG rocket launchers, 130 machine guns and boxes for 9,520 cartridges for Kalashnikov chargers 7.62 millimeter, the source added specifying that this cache of weapons was discovered after investigations conducted as part of the militant operation investigation of El Mnihla (governorate of Ariana), of last May 11.

During El Mnhila operation two militants were killed and six others were arrested by the security forces. Quantities of weapons were also seized, said the Interior Ministry after the operation.

Daesh militants launched an attack on Ben Guerdane on March 7, killing 20 people and wounding 17. The militants have continued to clash with security and military forces in the surrounding villages.
