Tunisia and South Africa are spearheaded a cross African effort against terrorism, according to a document published Wednesday evening in Tunis.

In a press statement in Tunis marking the end of his state visit to Tunisia, South African President, Thabo Mbeki called on the Quartet (USA, Russia, EU and UN) to increase their efforts to consolidate peace and security in region, including the road map for the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Referring to Iraq, South Africa and Tunisia called on the international community to help Iraq find peace and stability.

Mbeki, however, declined to comment on the recent conflict in Western Sahara, having been advised by his diplomatic advisors to avoid the sensitive issue.
