ALBAWABA- Japan's Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami advisory following a 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of southwest Japan.
The earthquake occurred at 9:19 p.m. local time (7:19 a.m. ET) and prompted advisories for Miyazaki province on Kyushu Island and the southern Kochi prefecture.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid entering the sea or approaching the coastline until the advisory is lifted. Updates and warnings are being shared on official channels, including the agency’s account on X (formerly Twitter).
