Sadiki College Association has initiated and organized an official ceremony meant to honor the memory of late Mahmoud Messaadi (1911-2004), one of Tunisia's most popular authors. The event was held in the Theatre of Tunis.
<i>La Presse</i> reports that the event was attended by a number of prominent figures from the Tunisian cultural life and literature world including the Tunisian Minister of Culture and Heritage Preservation, Dr. Mohamed El Aziz Ben Achour.
Mr. Foued Mebazaa, the president of Sadiki Association, who delivered the opening speech of the ceremony, stressed the "brilliant contribution" of Messaadi to the Tunisian literature and culture, for which he has also received the Maghareb Culture Award in 1994, by President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
