ALBAWABA - Significant rail service problems occurred in France only hours before the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics opened, as a result of efforts by "malicious individuals."
The effect on train services in the run-up to the Olympic Games was described in a statement published by SNCF, the national railway corporation of France, on its X account.
The SNCF claims that these intentional acts had a significant negative impact on train operations in western, northern, and eastern France. International lines were also affected, such as trains traveling over the Channel Tunnel to London and Belgium.
Numerous trains were rerouted and cancelled as a result of the "major attack targeting the high-speed train network," according to SNCF.
The train operator advised anyone who could to reschedule their travel plans and stay away from stations, and guaranteed that notices would be provided to customers impacted by the interruptions. "We request all passengers who are able to delay their travel plans and stay away from the stations," the notification said.
