ALBAWABA - In a devastating turn of events, the 'Daniel' storm, which swept through eastern Libya on September 10th, has left a trail of destruction in its wake.

Cities such as Benghazi, Bayda, Mersa, Susa, and Derna found themselves grappling with a catastrophic flood that has claimed the lives of over 11,300 people. As a grim reminder of the disaster's scale, the once arid desert near Derna has now been transformed into an expansive lake.

Images emerging from this newly formed desert lake provide a haunting glimpse into the aftermath of the flood. Among the chilling visuals are scenes of overturned trucks and lorries, stark reminders of the lives lost and the chaos that unfolded.

Official response has been swift, with military and government leaders personally visiting the affected region by helicopter to assess the dire situation.

Plans are underway to dispatch rescue teams and much-needed aid to the affected areas. Directives have been issued to prioritize water drainage efforts and clear roads and pathways.
