Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Seba Nasir will lead a delegation to Ankara between July 31 and August 3, where they will meet with a Turkish team headed by Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal, reported the Turkish Daily News on Wednesday, citing a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement.

Turkey and Syria started improving ties following the signing of the Adana agreement in 1998.

The agreement led to the step-by-step development of relationships between the two, said the paper.

First, economic relations started to improve, while the two sides tried to feel the pulse for the boosting of relations at other fields, such as military and water-based affairs, which once constituted a major point of dispute between Damascus and Ankara.

Countries bordering Turkey are concerned by their giant neighbor's far-reaching plans to dam rivers whose waters nourish crops beyond Turkish borders.

Turkey's ever-tighter military ties with Israel are also worrisome to her Arab neighbors – Albawaba.com
