He said in his speech: "I appeal to NATO and its allies to continue to protect us from this tyrant."

A spokesman for NATO in Brussels, said NATO planes have been bombing Sirte during the past three days. Another military commander said his forces are at a distance of 100 km east of the city after capturing the town of Al Jawad. Other forces are advancing from the west. Some rebel commanders believe that Gaddafi and his entourage fled to Sirte. But other rumors suggest that Gaddafi is still hiding in Tripoli or fled to Algeria.
And along the coastal highway east of Tripoli, eyewitnesses spoke about convoys of Soviet-made T-55 tanks in the direction of Sirte. Rebels said that the tanks were seized from a military base left by Gaddafi's troops in Zliten.
