ALBAWABA- Three people have died and a fourth is in critical condition after a helicopter crashed during a flying lesson on the Isle of Wight, police confirmed on Monday.

According to BBC, Hampshire Police said efforts are under way to contact and support the families of those involved.

“At this time we are unable to provide further information about the people involved,” the force added, noting that it is working closely with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).

According to the operator, Northumbria Helicopters, four people were on board for a flying lesson when the incident occurred. The crash site has been sealed off, with police vehicles and emergency crews deployed across the area.

Eyewitness Leigh Goldsmith told the BBC she saw the helicopter “spiralling” before it disappeared from sight.
The AAIB, part of the Department for Transport, has launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash.

Joe Robertson, MP for Isle of Wight East, described the incident as “a tragedy” that has left the community in shock. “My heart goes out to the family members of those who lost their lives. On what should have been a joyful bank holiday, this has ended in unimaginable loss,” he said.
