Three Japanese nationals have been arrested in connection with an organized credit card fraud syndicate, Belgian news agency Belga reported Sunday.
The agency said the three, who were using fraudulent cards in luxury shops, were part of an organized operation active in Paris, Berlin, Cologne, Germany and Spain.
Belgian police spokesman Glen Audenaert, named the trio as Masahiko S., Osamu K. and Yoichi F.
He said they were caught red handed on July 19 with around 80 forged Visa, Mastercard and Japanese Credit Bank (JCB) cards in their possession.
The cards were said to be of high quality with magnetic strips designed to fool banks and businesses.
The extent of their thefts is not yet known, but around 600,000 Belgian francs (14,800 euros, 13,000 dollars) worth of goods have already been recovered -- BRUSSELS (AFP)
