Approximately 1,500 Christians gathered at the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem to celebrate Easter, reports AFP.
Pilgrims from around the world flocked to the holy spot where it is believed Jesus was both crucified and resurrected.
The Garden Tomb was discovered in 1867 and serves as an alternative to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
"It is just awesome to be here," said a 41-year-old woman from South Korea told AFP. "The Bible talks about Jerusalem being a house of prayer for all nations and here you can see people from all these nations coming together to worship him at the same time," she said.
Next weekend Orthodox Christians will celebrate Easter in accordance with the Julian calendar.
