ALBAWABA - A shocking video showed an Air India flight, carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members, suddenly losing altitude during a trip, leaving 17 people injured.
The aircraft, heading from Phuket to Delhi, encountered severe turbulence, leading to a sudden drop in its altitude by approximately 300 feet, causing the plane to jolt violently while rocking side to side.
An investigation into the Tata Group-owned Air India's flight AI2379 incident was launched by India’s civil aviation regulator. The plane, however, safely landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in the country's capital on Tuesday morning.
According to the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation, the plane was taken to a hangar, and authorities took the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder for further examination to determine the cause of the altitude incident.
The accident involving the Airbus A320neo aircraft left 13 passengers and four crew members injured, Air India announced Tuesday in a statement. All are in a stable condition.
"On our side, we are aware of the event and are in contact with Air India to provide support as required," a spokesperson for Airbus added.
