Reuters reports that the Russian Defense Ministry announced a 48 hour ceasefire in the Damascus suburb of Daraya.

Russia called the ceasefire "regime of calm" and said the two-day period would allow humanitarian aid to the over 6,000 civilians still inside the city.

In April, Amnesty International posted a video revealing the Syrian regime siege on Daraya. Russian aircraft supporting the regime dropped thousands of barrel bombs on the city during the three-year siege.
