Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, has recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Co-operative Society, Dubai, for the training and employment of 40 UAE Nationals with the Cooperative. The MoU was signed between Feddah Lootah, Acting General Manager, Tanmia and Khaled Humaid Al Falassi, General Manager, Union Co-operative Society.

Commenting on the MoU, Feddah Lootah said, “Signing this MoU with Union Co-operative Society is crucial to our goal of maximizing employment of Nationals in the retail sector. Tanmia will be coordinating with Union Co-operative to provide training to selected candidates and prepare them adequately to handle the job responsibilities efficiently. We are confident that more organisations from the UAE’s retail sector will come forward to support our emiratisation strategy.”

According to the terms of the MoU, Tanmia will liaise with Union Co-operative to identify its job requirements; perform job matching; nominate suitable candidates; work with Union Co-operative to develop training programs to meet competency gaps of selected candidates; liaise with the Co-operative to select appropriate training providers; jointly invest in training of selected candidates where required and agreed; provide adequate monitoring of any and all training programs during implementation; and provide a mechanism for post-employment follow-up of job seekers.

On their part, Union Co-operative Society will provide Tanmia with detailed requirements specific to job openings, including job title, educational level and gender, for direct placement. Union Co-operative will also collaborate with Tanmia to identify skill gaps and design appropriate training programs, in addition to providing post-employment feedback to Tanmia.

“We are pleased to contribute to Tanmia’s emiratisation goals by providing training and employment to 40 National jobseekers registered in their database. Union Co-operative Society has always been committed to maximizing employment opportunities for Nationals, and this MoU will help us recruit the right candidates,” said Khaled Humaid Al Falassi.

Union Co-operative Society is a chain of hypermarkets having seven outlets in major residential areas in Dubai such as Al Towar, Jumeirah, Al Rashidiya, Satwa, Al Mankhool, Hamriya and Al Aweer.
