In a recent exclusive interview, Taliban’s supreme leader Mullah Mohammed Omar showed no signs of weakness despite two weeks of intensive US and British bombing of Afghanistan, and even vowed there would be a long war, according to the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA).
The agency cited Omar's interview with an Algerian paper, the first since the attacks began.
The Al Yom said its exclusive interview with the Taliban leader, published Sunday, took place in an 80sq.m makeshift wooden headquarters.
Mullah Omar addressed a strongly worded message to Washington through the paper and said his country could take more strikes until the ground offensive starts.
The publishing manager of Al Yom, Nasir Aldean Alawi, pointed out that the interview, arranged through mediators among the Taliban supporters in Peshawar, was written by Mullah Omar and sent to the daily through the same mediators.
He added that it had not been easy to convince the reclusive leader to agree to the interview, because Omar insisted on being sure the daily had no connection with Saudi authorities and was not subject to the Algerian authorities' censorship – Albawaba.com
