ALBAWABA - As the Syrian regime and Russian forces launched a number of brutal attacks on the opposition-held districts of Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama in Syria, at least 11 civilians were killed and 78 more were injured.
These strikes come a couple of days after a drone strike on the Homs Military Academy graduation ceremony, which killed 89 people, including 31 women and five children, and injured as many as 277, the health ministry reported.
The Syrian military blamed the attack on militants "backed by known international forces" and stated that "it will respond with full force and decisiveness to these terrorist organizations, wherever they exist." No one claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred during the academy's graduation ceremony.
According to the opposition's Syrian Civil Defense, better known as the White Helmets, Syrian artillery bombarded towns and villages held by the opposition in Idlib province on Saturday, killing at least 11 and injuring more than 78.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitor, reported a similar death toll and that rockets were fired on government-held regions, including the outskirts of Qardaha. According to the Observatory, Russian airplanes carried out four attacks on the rebel-held territory.
Muhammad al-Sameeh, a resident of Termanin, where four people were killed, told AlJazeera: "It was like judgment day… It turned out that there was bombing in our neighborhood. I felt very afraid. We were already displaced because of the bombing and military escalation, but it followed us here. Now we have to move again, but I don’t know where to".
