Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has received United States Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs William Burns and an accompanying delegation, the Syrian Arab news agency reported Tuesday.
During the meeting, talks focused on the “dangerous situation in the region”, especially regarding the Iraqi issue and efforts of Iraq’s neighboring states, aimed at preventing war against Iraq, as well as the need for everyone, including the United States to be committed to United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara and US ambassador in Damascus took part in the meeting as well. (Albawaba.com)
