The Syrian opposition National Coalition told reporters Thursday that they will meet in Istanbul on November 9th to decide whether they will participate in the proposed Geneva peace talks, according to AFP.
Samir Nashar, a member of the SNC told AFP, "We have decided to put off the (Coalition's) General Assembly and political committee meetings until November 9 in Istanbul."
The meetings were originally planned to take place in the Turkish city on October 22nd, but were postponed due to the meeting held with the "Friends of Syria" in London earlier this week.
"Putting off a decision until November 9 aims to allow more time for discussions and to assist efforts to change the mind of those opposed [to taking part]," Nashar said.
Some opposition groups, such as the Syrian National Council, one of the main members of the SNC, announced in mid-October that it would not attend the talks in Geneva if Syrian regime representatives participated.
US officials, such as ambassador to Syria Robert Ford, is already in Istanbul "working hard behind the scenes" to encourage all opposition groups to join the talks in Geneva, according to the AFP report.
