High-ranking Palestinian sources said in Amman Wednesday that Syria and Lebanon apologized for not receiving Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, reported Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The sources, requesting anonymity, told KUNA that Lebanon and Syria informed chairman of the political department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Farouk Qaddoumi, that they could not receive Arafat.
According to the agency, Arafat wished to visit Beirut and Damascus, as part of his tour to Arab and western countries, which he started following last July's Camp David summit, to inform leaders over the Palestinian position.
The Palestinian sources said Syria and Lebanon also refused to give the green light for a near visit for Arafat, said the agency - Albawaba.com
