The shell struck the outskirts of the town Majdal Shams approximately 50 meters from a home. According to the report, no injuries or damage have yet been reported.
The Israeli military confirmed the incident, but did not provide AFP with information regarding the timing and exact location of where the shell landed.
Approximately 9, 900 people, all of whom are Druze, live in Majdal Shams, the largest town in the Golan Heights.
Tension in the Golan Heights territory, which was formerly controlled by Syria until Israel illegally seized it during the 1967 Six Day War, has escalated significantly since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011.
Only "minor flare-ups" in the territory have been reported since the start of the war as well.
