A humanitarian aid convoy has entered the rebel-held town of Daraya for the first time since 2012, AFP reported.
Daraya, located just south of Damascus, has been under a government siege for over three years, and is still home to some 6,000 residents.
The International Committee of the Red Cross told AFP that both the United Nations and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent were coordinating for the aid delivery.
Daraya's residents have been pummeled by thousands of barrel bombs since the siege began. The town is located near an airport used by Russian planes, making it strategic for Syrian government forces.
Russia has been the strongest ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since the war began five years ago, claiming over 250,000 lives and displacing millions more.
